Discernment and Spiritual Guidance

As a Christian minister, I believe God is all around and within us. We just need to learn how to pay attention. Having a companion for the journey can help.

Spiritual health is key to holistic health. Here’s how we can work toward your spiritual health together:

Pastoral Care

Discerning God’s will is rooted in discerning first God’s presence. God is always with us, even — perhaps especially — when we can’t “feel” it. Through humility and curiosity (i.e., attentive observation and good question-asking), I bear witness to what God is already doing in and through your life. Whether it is a specific experience or a season of spiritual dryness, we can meet once or regularly to tend to your spiritual health together.

Transitionary Discernment

I particularly love helping people discern God’s presence and guidance in the midst of transition: as they go to college, pick a major, decide on a a career shift, get ready for marriage, determine whether to stay in a relationship, prepare for parenthood, and more. Transition (in the Bible, the image used is the wilderness) is a spiritually rich time, but we often need a guide to help us see God’s presence and hear God’s whispers.

Biblical and Theological Advising

Many people don’t have anyone they can turn to with their big, important (sometimes scary) questions about God, faith, and the Bible. Even people with a Christian family and a home church they trust often feel stuck when they have questions that rub against what everyone else seems to believe. God loves big questions, and so do I. I am committed to helping you explore responses to your questions as you wrestle with God.

Starting price for one-on-one pastoral meetings is $75 an hour, but ask about the availability of scholarships. Please contact me for a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit!
